There's a problem with the way that demolition is usually done:
Too much stuff goes straight to the landfill.Lots of demolition projects destroy or throw away materials that are either harmful, valuable or reusable in other building projects. Too few stakeholders are considered.Keeping on budget is job one, but it’s important to consider the building’s owners and users - the people that live and work in these homes and offices everyday. The long-term vision isn't being discussed.Demo projects are short-term, but buildings last a lot longer and the land is here to stay. When we only think about the project at hand, we don't consider the long-term effects.
We choose to look at demolition differently. We are focused on consistently demonstrating that we can Waste Less and Do More with demolition projects.
How do we sustainably get 'back to base'?
Expertise:We hire professionals dedicated to doing deconstruction better.
Everyone that we place on site understands that every demo site will soon be a build site, and they treat it that way. We employ skilled and responsible foremen with construction backgrounds. With build experience, our staff see the cost-saving options and alternative build options. This makes our experience invaluable when we are the first trade on site.
Responsiveness:We take ownership of our projects from day one.
We make sure that we are both available and kept up to speed on all day-to-day work on site. Any key decision during the project is brought back to R3 management and is responded to immediately. It's a top-down commitment that we've made to react quickly to any issue, and this allows us to be proactive to the project as a whole.
Sustainability:We use methods and build relationships that avoid landfills and reuse material.
Call it 'Waste Diversion', but this is only part of the picture. We look at removed material and evaluate better ways of dealing with it. We've built a network of relationships that help us handle removed material appropriately.
Service:We do all our work for the same cost of a traditional demolition.
We know the dollars still matter for a project, but doing sustainable work doesn't have to come at a premium. We're raising the bar on what it means to be a deconstruction company and it starts with service. Our business model allows us to do better work and keep our project costs on par with more traditional methods of demolition. |
